Current Status

NZQA approval was granted in February 2004 for the following programmes:

  • Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum
  • Transition Challenge, Towards Independence and Workright

In September 2004, the Silver, Gold and Platinum Awards were granted credit inclusion and, in June 2006, the credit inclusion was re-assessed and increased to 20 credit equivalents at their respective levels. The credit inclusion is granted for demonstration of the three essential skills of:

  • Self management and competitive skills and the challenges (12 credit equivalents)
  • Work and study skills (4 credit equivalents)
  • Problem solving (4 credit equivalents)

This makes the total of 20 credit equivalents at Level 1, 2 or 3. In Vol. 85 No. 11 of the Education Gazette (see the Education Gazette website), there is a series of articles showing that ASDAN can be applied successfully in a range of situations and with all ability students.
